Although this is not the genre I usually read the cover and the author's query letter intrigued me so I agreed. I was pleasantly surprised. It makes me happy to know there are aspiring young authors who know how to craft a story.

Ms. Jones has written a plot that is both interesting and intriguing. Yes, she needs to learn how to pad her characters and use better dialogue and description, but she has the main ingredient - she knows how to tell a good tale. It was that reason and that alone that kept me reading. I found the setting and the idea for the book an imaginative modern-day twist on an old story.

We are introduced to a young girl named Aradia who is found in the woods and adopted by a couple named Ross and Liza. Although they've always realized their child is special, Ross and Liza don't realize just how special she is until a job transfer causes the family to move to Salem. It is there the story really begins.

Vampires and werewolves are commonplace schoolmates for the girl but it isn't until she tries to help her father solve a murder that a whole new world is opened to her and she finds out she is a witch - the last witch. Thrown into the mix are her boyfriend Dax and friend Roy, who, along with Aradia are searching for the murderer.

The end has a good cliffhanger and causes the reader to want more. While the author can use some maturation (and will as she continues writing) I found enough to keep me reading and wanting to find out what happens next.

As a child I couldn't get my hands on enough books. This author's creativity and ideas could send her to the top of the bestseller list with a good editing and marketing. I can only say good luck!
