It never fails...

But the moment my book is starting to raise up above from 3.2 stars on Amazon to almost 4 a one star review is written that sends me right back down. It's hilarious really. I am not complaining though. Most one stars reviews are helpful but this one written in the US amazon store front...oh well success was never achieved without struggle

Dr. Philip Zimbardo: Why Society Is Failing Young Boys

Dr. Philip Zimbardo: Why Society Is Failing Young Boys: Have you noticed how guys are being portrayed in movies lately? Unless you've been living under a rock you've seen at least one of these: Knocked Up, Failure to Launch, Hall Pass, Old School, or the Jackass series.

All the leading male characters are presented as expendable losers usually incapable of taking responsibility for themselves, often plotting intricate but seldom realized plans to get laid, and generally running the opposite direction of any kind of commitment. Not only do they avoid the future, sometimes they attempt to re-live past glory in order to avoid living in the present. It seems these guys don't have much value to contribute to society beyond their ability to entertain the other male characters, and of course, the audience.

Female characters...

Why Strong Female Characters Are Bad for Women | Overthinking It

well i was reading that article and while it did have some valid points most of it i think should get the author a sharp bitch-slap to the face!  What I agreed with is that it does indeed portray women as sexual perfect objects but the thing is whats wrong with looking sexy? Many women I know who chose to dress in those kind of things get all kinds of crap because they chose to look nice or sexy as u put it. However, just because they look good doesnt make them any less secure. For example my sister is truly one of the most beautiful women in the world and yet she still thinks she needs to watch her weight. Yes its hard having beautiful women around but the thing is do u honestly believe it truly makes their lives easier? an author I know is named L.A. Sherman and she has been through more shit than I ever have. So what if she wears a mini skirt and makes Tyra Banks look like a feeble old woman? For all the crud she has been through, being sold as a child bride, tortured by her evil mother-in-law, arriving in America with nothing but the clothes on her back and her young son I think she is entitled to do whatever the hell she wants. In the end it is all about choices. Life is full of bad and good things. Yes we can change things but it takes time and bitching and moaning and criticizing others do not solve a damn thing.
In my opinion, for all the weight u lose you cannot change ur body type. Everyone is born with a certain look. So what if some girls are stick thin? Do u think they dont get teased for their weight too? People call them anorexic to their faces or sluts in front of their boyfriends and husbands. Can you imagine how L.A. Sherman must feel whenever people compare her to adult film stars in front of her kids and husband. The fact that she does not punch them makes me want to salute her. If anyone said that to them hell i would slap and kick them so hard i would be arrested for assault and battery in two seconds flat.

The overall morale of the story (in my opinion) is the fact is that if we hate something we should change it. It takes time and it takes effort but it always possible. It took time to get rid of segregation in the United States (mostly) but it happened in the end. My character Aradia will one day be a symbol of feminine Independence but as what female Independence should be.
And what I define as female independence is:
*seeing something wrong with the world and trying to change it'
*using diplomacy as much as possible
*having men help her because in the end u always need help to do anything
*to never bite the hand that helps you male or female
*to do more than just fight
*to make mistakes but own up to them
*most of all to accept the fact that life is tough but it is action and determination that will make it change.

Authors and their genders

I often wonder what type of authors get more popular. Supposedly one of the reasons why the American publisher changed J.K. Rowling's name from Joanna Rowling to J.K. is because he believed that people would not be accepting of a female author. I think nowadays things have definitely changed. However, like the issue that is the focal point of my series. I get the feeling that people are not really comfortable with women being in charge. Best selling authors are one thing but women who are in power.... Male authors tend to command more respect than females. I think they are also given more rights. However, this is just presumption. What do you think? Do men still rule only because people are afraid to put women in charge.

Its hilarious really...

In case it hasn't already been established I am a female. One of the reasons why they changed Joanna Rowling's to show just J.K. is because the publisher believed that only male authors would be accepted as popular. In other words, he believed that if people knew she was female they would never buy her books.
Its funny how we females get so much crud. I am not saying males do not either but since I am a woman i can only say what i feel is a woman's perspective.
The biggest drags of being female I think are:
The pressure to look pretty
Being portrayed as sexual objects
The pressure or biological need to one day be a mother and a wife even if it does not suit your lifestyle

I feel these pressures every day especially rejection. I am learning to live on with my life. Although people believe that if they offend me i will turn psychotic and start setting their stuff on fire. I can assure you however that once my prom date stood up for the night of the prom I bore him no grudges. He avoided me like the plague when in reality it didn't mean anything to me. It's hard but i have learned to roll with the punches. Whats hilarious is when he accidentally saw me again, he froze like a deer in the headlights, I just shrugged, walked by him and said hey. I swear i could hear his jaw drop.

In the end for all the men who have broken my heart I just want them to be happy because that is the kind of person I am. I can dream of vengeance but in reality i could never be that cruel.

Why i am saying all this is the last year every single guy whom i have found attractive has either moved on or moved up. I wont deny it bothers me that i have been unable to hold onto a guy but in the end I always accept such things. I just find it hilarious that every guy i am interested in either leaves me or does not want me. But its alright to tell the truth i am not really looking for a relationship.  What I am looking for is stability in my life so the day I graduate from college, and finally start getting my franchise on the roll then I shall see what happens.

Suicide victim's kin speak up on bullying

Suicide victim's kin speak up on bullying

Twice I tried to comitt suicide, twice I failed, and I am glad. Never do this it may not seem so big of a deal but try imagining what will happen to ur family. they will blame themselves and it will tear them apart.
Guess who stopped me from my attempts beside faith in the Lord? My family. they made me realize that I cannot do this to them so to whomever reads this and has thoughts get help because in the end life may be tough but u gotta keep trying not just for yourself but for ur loved ones.

I keep trying and my family makes it worth it.

Venting (I am allowed to do that on my blog)

The only thing i find irritable about my being a creative writer full of imaginative ideas is the sad fact that sometimes i cant stop myself from daydreaming. An example: when I go out on a date i am already fantasizing about what i will be wearing at my wedding.

Of course couple that with being a hopeless romantic and its really no surprise to me why some men end up dumping me for someone else.

Ironic how life is isnt it?

Novelist ditches publisher at book launch for 'condescending' treatment

Novelist ditches publisher at book launch for 'condescending' treatment

if there is one thing I like about the relationship I share with both my editor and cover artist is respect. It is also the one thing I think many publishing companies lack towards their authors.

In the end, I think the real reason why we writers write in the first place is to earn respect. Money, and fame maybe great if we lack respect then what is the point?

Son Of CNN Editor Missing In Washington, D.C.

Son Of CNN Editor Missing In Washington, D.C.

When my mother and I first went to Frostburg I talked to this man about editing my manuscript. It didn't really pan out, but we parted on good terms. However, I still kept in touch with him. When I head about this it really struck home.
What's worse is they found the poor kid. He's dead. He was only 22 only two years younger than me. He was their parents only kid. My dad urges me not to make a big deal, but the thing this stuff happens to my mother and father alot as well. They work in the government after all, many times their former bosses or friends are killed overseas and god knows what else. I think it's finally starting to hit me how hard this can be. It's scary, but most of all I am sorry for poor Stephen and his family. I wish there was more I could say but I don't think there is. Most of all, I don't understand what the parents are going through. I never could.

Its amazing...

Especially when they never ask for your advice or know what the hell it is that makes you happy. My entire life I have always been told I am wrong about everything but then again maybe that's the hazard of living in D.C. Everyone here thinks they know best and whats worse is they have attitudes about it especially bad ones. My dad says that's maybe one of things i got used to in TX everyone not having bad attitudes that is. Here, well like I said its D.C. I love it here though. I mean Bethesda, MD (which is very close to Washington d.c. hence why I refer to it as so) is my home the only place i have ever called home.

but i guess what really bugs me is that people like my dad, my teachers, my family, and my friends acting like i am worthless or weird or God knows what else? I mean they think i am weird when they discuss Paris Hilton's sex tape and how hot she looked in the middle of the TA (theater arts) building where we hang out at the loudest tone possible. Others discuss how easily it is easy to sleep with one guy and then three others. and they think I am weird just because I talk fast, and slur and sometimes jumble my words. Worst of all, they always presume that I want and need friends or people in general. I like being alone because when you are alone no one can criticize you or put you down or make you feel guilty. You don't have to bend over backwards to do things for them or force a smile to your face all the while they are dissing you and making you feel worthless.

My dad is always telling me that I need friends and that I need to hang out with people. He worries when i spend too much time in my room on the Internet never mind that that is what makes me happy instead hanging out with a bunch of dominating freaks. I like being alone I hate being around people whom are always demanding, criticizing, and yelling when I know I am ten times the person they will never be.

I am just so tired of people thinking they know better than me. Whats worse is my Dad asking me constantly to act like an adult and than thinking I am too child like in my mind or thoughts to ever act like one. In other words he thinks I am too stupid.

of course every psychiatrist believes isolating oneself from society is a sure-sign of sociopath tendencies which sounds funny coming from people who are almost always never seen in public. The fact is I could never hurt someone i just wish it was possible for people to back off and back out of my life.

My parents wonder if i will ever get married or have kids or anything but let me tell you something after having a family like mine and the friends that I have now well needless to say the day I am truly on my own financially with my own career and my own place I will never and me never ever try to have a family or friends again. Because I think one of them in a lifetime is enough.
