Ridley Scott optioning an indie novel - Lexington Literature | Examiner.com

Ridley Scott optioning an indie novel - Lexington Literature | Examiner.com: Who says indie authors can't be taken seriously? Who says their books don't make the grade? Certainly not Ridley Scott, director of such films as Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, and Thelma and Louise.

Deadline.com posted this weekend that 20th Century Fox and Scott were in negotiations with author Hugh Howey for the film rights to Howey's novel, Wool -- the omnibus version, which includes the first five of a projected series of six separately published novellas. Howey confirmed the deal as having been signed, sealed, and delivered this weekend on one of the Kindle forums. Howey also confirmed script writer Steve Zaillian is also attached to the project.
