7 Things I Do Not Want to See in Man of Steel

As quoted from the amazing blog written by my incredible editor Harrison R. Bradlow

Here is a snippet
"Man of Steel, the upcoming Superman reboot film, is scheduled for release in 2012, with filming set to start sometime in the near future.  As a huge Superman fan, I'm very excited for this.  Why?  Well, part of it is that it will probably be really good.  Zack Snyder has proven himself as a gifted outside-the-box director, which is precisely what the franchise needs at this point.  Plus, anything with "Nolan" attached to it goes up a few notches in my book.

Another part of it though is that I love all things Superman, even the really awful things.  I'll go see the new film, enthusiastically, possibly more than once, no matter how terrible it is.  That's why I own the box set for the first four Superman movies.

I'd rather see a quality Superman film though than another terrible one.  We still haven't seen a great Superman movie, the kind that elevates the franchise from comic book movie to true film.  Superman 2 is probably the most enjoyable of them so far, and even it lays claim to more than one of the items on this list.  No, if we're going to see a truly great film, Batman Begins great, we'll need to depart substantially from what we've done in the past.  And so, without further ado, here are 7 things I do not want to see in the upcoming Man of Steel:"

    Odd habits of famous writers!

GET UPDATES FROM Celia Blue Johnson

    Odd Type Writers

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/celia-blue-johnson/odd-type-writers_b_3380972.html?utm_hp_ref=books

Here's a sample "Alexandre Dumas, père, was a prolific writer, penning over three hundred works in his lifetime. Dumas once bet that he could finish a novel within three days, and won. Colors were essential to Dumas' writing process. He wrote poetry on yellow paper, articles on pink, and novels on blue. When vacationing in Eastern Europe, Dumas was unable to replenish his stock of blue paper, and had to use cream pages. He was convinced the color change had a negative impact on his writing at the time."

I don' think I qualify as famous yet before I can divulge on my odd habits which is a blessing because I got some weird habits.

The 18 Greatest Movie Monsters quoted from my editor Harrison's blog

One of the many things I admire about Harrison R. Bradlow is his intelligence. The man sees things in so many ways that I did not know where possible. You may wonder what this has to do with movie monsters well thats like looking at the Mona Lisa and asking what does that have to do with Art in this day and age? Interpretation helps with everything. It helps with understanding and creating.

     quoted from Harrison's Blog

    "QUICK disclaimers:

    A) This isn’t a list of great monster movies, but rather the great monsters themselves.

    B) I’ve only included monsters I’ve personally seen in film.

    C) I fly pretty loose and fast with the definition of a “monster.” Agree with the list? Disagree? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Without further ado, here are (in my opinion) The 18 Greatest Movie Monsters:

    #18"

Self-publishers aren’t fazed by fading print

Self-publishers aren’t fazed by fading print: The absence of a book deal isn’t stopping writers, illustrators and artists from getting their work out there. With self-publishing websites like blurb.com, free software applications and copy machines—the way skaters have been making zines for decades—printing is the easy part. Upfront costs and distribution, not so much; the DIY publishing crowd is up against disappearing bookstores and e-readers that sell titles for a fraction of what a hard copy would cost. Yet, there are still plenty of print devotees out there, sticking to the waning medium for various reasons.

'On the Island' author Tracey Garvis Graves' path to romance - USATODAY.com: Tracey Garvis Graves has one of those dream-come-true stories that make other authors simultaneously delirious with joy on her behalf and jealous as all-get-out. See, Tracey self-published a book that had been soundly rejected by the traditional publishing world.

Publishing Market Shows Steady Title Growth in 2011 Fueled Largely by Self-Publishing Sector - MarketWatch

Publishing Market Shows Steady Title Growth in 2011 Fueled Largely by Self-Publishing Sector - MarketWatch: NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J., June 5, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Bowker, the global leader in bibliographic information, released its annual report on U. S. print book publishing for 2011, compiled from its Books In Print® database. Based on preliminary figures from U.S. publishers, Bowker is projecting that traditional print book output grew six percent in 2011, from 328,259 titles in 2010 to a projected 347,178 in 2011, driven almost exclusively by a strong self-publishing market. This is the most significant expansion in more than four years for America's traditional publishing sector, but removing self-publishing from the equation would show that the market is relatively flat from 2010.

The Self-Publishing Project: Local woman helps authors launch their books | My Edmonds News: “Sleep? At (age) 62, it’s highly overrated,” said local micro-publisher and coach Emily Hill recently, while staying awake checking international book sales for her press, A.V. Harrison Publishing, and tweeting to her followers. Her round-the-clock efforts helped her sell “close to 4,000 books in the past 18 months.”

700,000 books later, she finally has a ‘bestseller’ - The Style Blog - The Washington Post

700,000 books later, she finally has a ‘bestseller’ - The Style Blog - The Washington Post: Dropped by her print publisher after lackluster sales, Belleville, a Stanford economics grad and a former singer/songwriter, started self-publishing her e-books two years ago. When steamy titles like “Take Me” and “Game for Love” caught on, she started writing new books as fast as her fingers could fly (and that’s pretty fast — she writes several books a year). Online retailers such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Nook caught the sales and she hit those retailer’s lists, but she remained under the radar of non-retailers.

    Christopher Herz Success Story

    Christopher Herz Success Story:
Christopher Herz was used to hard work. In order to complete his first novel, The Last Block in Harlem, he wrote for two hours each morning and on the subway to and from his day job. “It went like this. Wake up at 5 a.m. Make coffee. Write. Store across the street raises steel gate. Supers start to sweep and hose. Write some more. Sun hits bricks on the building across the street. Time to save everything and go to work.”

Top 5 Writing Lessons from J.K. Rowling

Top 5 Writing Lessons from J.K. Rowling

Persist: Here's where some aspiring authors fail. They get caught up in a get-rich-quick mindset and expect overnight success. They hear stories about how the idea of a spectacled wizard boy popped up into J.K.'s mind...and then they hear about the billion dollars she's made and see her name all over the media. According to her own words, writing the complete story of Harry Potter was a 20-year process! 20 years! Maybe you're struggling with writer's block at the moment or you've developed some doubts. Please, don't give up. Persist. Don't give up after 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, 4 years, 5 years, a decade, two decades, three decades, four decades... If you love writing, write and persist. Don't expect overnight success. It's a marathon, not a race, okay?

    "Soul Awakening by Doug Simpson"

    SOUL AWAKENING BY DOUG SIMPSON
Soul Awakening is the story of three strangers, who are brought together by accident, or so it appears initially, but who ultimately discover that their unorthodox introductions were arranged by Divine Intervention. Dacque LaRose, the senior member of the trio, is the learned teacher who commenced an educational journey, ten years earlier, a month after the unfortunate passing of his wife, when her spirit appeared in their living room one evening with some inspirational advice for him. Already a casual believer in life after death of the body, Dacque eagerly researched the notion of survival of the soul and spirit after death, and his acquired knowledge led him to the possibility of reincarnation.

Dacque joined the snowbird migration, within a year of the death of his wife, and sold the family home in Ohio and landed in the south in the small retiree’s-dominated city of Anywhere. His research after his move to Anywhere introduced him to an area group called the Reincarnation Enlightenment Group, and he joined up. One of the founding members of the Group is a certified regression therapist who, as part of her research in the area of reincarnation, offers Group members past life regression sessions for free, in her spare time. Dacque requested three regression sessions and discovered ten of his previous incarnations, as well as learning that significant individuals in this lifetime had played primary roles in his earlier incarnations.

With Dacque’s elevated understanding of souls, spirits and life on the-other-side there grew the realization that he was receiving communications from God, or more likely one of God’s messengers. It was messages from God that led him, in two separate incidents, to the younger members of the aforementioned trio of strangers. God first leads Dacque to befriend Dani Christian, an unemployed and depressed legal secretary who is not destitute but effectively alone in the city. Only days later, through a Divinely-orchestrated nose-dive into the sidewalk on his morning walk, Dacque is introduced to his rescuer, a Good Samaritan named Max Winston.

Over time, Dacque enlightens Dani and Max on his beliefs in the survival of the soul after death and reincarnation. Max and Dani obtain past-life regression sessions and they discover that their souls experienced a previous lifetime together that also included Dacque’s soul. Later Dani, Max and his parents uncover a series of earlier intertwined incarnations where they are descendants of their soul’s previous incarnations, and also discover some historical earlier incarnations that they never could have imagined.
